Anna Snoekstra is an internationally best selling author and Arts writer.
She lives in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia, where she writes from an old football factory in the backstreets of Thornbury.
Her novels have been published in over twenty countries and sixteen languages. She has written for many literary magazines and newspapers including The Guardian, Kill Your Darlings, The Sydney Morning Herald, Crime Reads and The Griffith Review. She is also a profile writer for The Saturday Paper.
Her new novel The Ones We Love is in bookstores now with Dutton (Penguin Random House) in North America and the United Kingdom and Ultimo Press in Australia. Her Penguin Audio Exclusive The End of The Ski Season was one of Audible’s Top 10 Mystery and Thrillers of 2025.

Let me teach you everything I know about writing thrillers.
This intensive bootcamp will guide you through every twist and turn of crafting gripping crime and mystery fiction. Hosted through Zoom, my class will teach you how to create unreliable narrators and fascinating antagonists readers can’t look away from. We’ll explore setting as character, whether it be dusty small towns, Australian cities or somewhere entirely fictional.
Then, onto my favourite topic to teach: structure! We’ll unpack the art of plotting and I will show you the building blocks I use to get to your first draft minus the chaos.
We’ll also delve into constructing red herrings and narrative misdirection, as well as how to deliver a payoff that feels both surprising and inevitable.
This course is perfect for those who want to write a thriller novel, are feeling stuck in a draft, or who have always been curious to give writing a thriller a go. You’ll come away with lots of great ideas and the tools to craft them!

How will I get my class link?

Will the sessions be recorded?
No. The classes will be a safe space for people to share ideas in the moment. However, I am happy to send you a handout with the notes used upon request.
Will there be breaks?
Yes. There will be a ten minute tea break in the morning and afternoon, as well as a thirty minute lunch break.
